WHAT AM I ABOUT TO INVEST IN?

The company CO-VER Power Technology S.p.A., a historic enterprise from Verbano Cusio Ossola, is seeking minimum financing of €100,000 (with a maximum of €500,000) which will contribute to the development of projects for biomethane production.

The project is managed by its subsidiary CO-VER Biometano S.r.l. and involves the conversion of three existing biogas plants in Rivarolo del Re into a single efficient and modernized production hub, equipped with an upgrading system for the production of 2.4 million Sm³/year of biomethane by 2027 (equivalent to approximately 24 GWh/year).

The biomethane will power CO-VER's high-efficiency trigeneration plants, producing a combined output of electricity, heat, and cooling, contributing to the reduction of CO₂ and the saving of non-renewable resources. The biomass used will primarily consist of agricultural by-products and livestock waste, within a circular economy perspective.

CO-VER has already acquired one of the plants and has entered into co-development agreements with agricultural companies that own the other two, which will supply 35% of the biomass and will be involved in operational management.

PROJECT SUMMARY

The project involves the upgrading of the three existing plants through interventions on two main fronts:

  • Optimization of biodigestion with a two-phase process (fermentation + post-fermentation)
  • Expansion of digestate storage

Detailed improvements include:

  • Reactivation of pre-tanks to improve biomass homogeneity
  • New pumping system and connection between digesters, to optimize flow between tanks 
  • Gas recovery from all reactors
  • Reuse of an existing engine + installation of a 250 kWe photovoltaic system to cover self-consumption
  • New digestate storage system of 10,600 m³ to promote agronomic use

BIOMETHANE

Biomethane is a renewable gas obtained from the purification of biogas produced through the anaerobic digestion of agricultural biomass, livestock waste, and organic waste. Thanks to its characteristics, it is perfectly compatible with natural gas infrastructure and can be used for high-efficiency cogeneration, transportation, or industrial uses, contributing to decarbonization and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Biomethane production projects integrate environmental sustainability and circular economy, transforming waste into a resource and returning natural fertilizers (digestate) to the territory. They are often incentivized by public policies, such as the 2022 Biomethane Decree, which offers capital grants and incentive tariffs on production. Thanks to these characteristics, biomethane represents a strategic and mature solution, capable of generating economic returns, local employment, and environmental benefits.
